Yes it does because this is an english based program and the people who run it speak english.

Not true. With translation files you can run it without understanding one word in english. I helped people  who do not understand english to install it, and they run it without problem...

I am sorry, but you are wrong.  I see contributions, that get approved, by people who never set foot in these forums.  So, no, you don't have to be a 'specialist' to get contributions approved.

People can be a specialist without posting on those forums. But he needs to speak english. What I wrote is that MOST of people who come regularly here ARE specialists of contribution, which doesn't mean that it is NECESSARY to post here to be one, nor means that EVERYBODY who post here is one.

I will perhaps surprise you, I consider I'm a specialist about contributions, though I never contribute. I perfectly know how to send profiles matching exactly the rules, giving all the needed explanations. That is also why I am sure of my choice.

I usually just include in the notes:
All casts & crews is from the movie end credits

And it should be accepted.

so you are telling someone that you just enter some standard text (regardless of its accuracy) in order to get a contribution accepted?

Thank you for alerting me to the accuracy of your own contributions.

That's not what I'm saying.
What I'm saying... All I need to document my contribution notes is one simple phrase.

And you are free to verify the accuracy of any of my contributions.  As I state in my notes... everything comes from the dvd and the end credits.

I have highlighted exactly what you did say since it appears you have forgotten.

I was very careful NOT to tell him what he should say to get his contribution accepted.

Now I understand what's your problem with my reply.

Like evryone here, I'm trying to help adrian_storyteller by giving him an example of the contribution notes that I use.
He's free to use it or not.

Of course, the contribution notes have to be true.

Thanks for the effort, Giga.

The German translation of the declining note and Gerri's explanatory post should rather read like this, though: ...

Computer translation is not all that. (Sorry for the translations not 90% correct!) I edit my contribution and exchanged it for your translation. Was it understandable?

I know of the shortcomings of computertranslations (yours was actually quite good). I just wanted to correct the remaining 10 %

Unfortunately you just gave text that he should use on page 1 of this thread. Now saying they actually have to be true is on page 2 of the thread.

I am always careful not to give something which should be cut/pasted into a submission - instead I always want the person to have to think about what he is doing and to document that.

Please pay attentiont to what I said, instead of taking one sentence out of context.  I said, you don't have to speak english to get contributions approved.  I said nothing about installing and running the program.

It seems like you are looking for things to argue about.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

OK, sorry for the misunderstanding.

So, if you do not speak english, how do you explain your contribution to Gerri who asks contribution notes in english ??

Why should she not expect you to put your notes in English, surfeur. That is certainly a reasonable request on her part. It may present a hurdle for some users but not hurdle so high that it cannot be dealt with.

As contribution notes are requested, I plainly understand that they are in english. Gerri cannot know all languages. That's why I always said contribution notes should be only for changes, not for first contributions, as it was at the time of Intervocative, when we got many very good profiles in R2 region.

Interesting idea, but it was Ken & Gerri themselves that asked for contribution notes for new submissions, so they obviously find them useful.

I have seen the R2 France profiles from Intervocative, surfeur, they are by and large GARBAGE, Incomplete. illegal data from other sources, and when I say incomplete they do not even include release date information, SRP or even Studio data. I don't call that good. Instead of expending all your energy tilting at windmills,  why don't you work with your compatriots and get it cleaned up, I am sure Jean would be more than happy to assist.

North:

What this all comes down to is that surfeur doesn't like any aspect of Profiler, he hates the Rules, he doesn't like that ken & Gerri want us to provide notes even for new Contributions, he does like the program. He wants to do it all HIS way, and he is not about to let anybody forget it, he will carp about it and cry about ceaselessly at every opportunity.

I sent an answer to your PM. The issue was that the contribution notes are not in English, so I cant understand them. There are numerous changes in the profile, so I really need to understand the notes.

If you can't write them in English, you could try posting here, someone might be able to help translate.

-Gerri
Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

BTW as a user I find notes with initial Contributions to be very useful as well. Much betyter than the old days at Intervocative.

If you do not like to be told a few truths by PM, I can do this in general forum, following your thread "The wrong information from Surfeur51"

"After your nasty attack, I forbid myself to give you a red arrow, but you really do not deserve any of your two reputation stars. You are really an unsavoury guy and I'm happy that Ken locked your fetid thread."
