When it comes to images we all know that all monitors shows the images (at least slightly) different...so I think it is not to much to expect to almost always get some no votes on your images... as your images might look significantly better on your machine.. they may not on someone else's machine.

So I wonder if that don't come into effect here.. maybe on the no voter's machines there the images just aren't as good?

Pete,
Normally I'd agree with you, the problem was that the original scan now in the DB is of the keep case art, not of the slip cover art. I never claimed mine were better, just correct. I feel the quality of the scan was at the very least just as good. But that is subjective.

Problem there is that Gerri has publicly said there is times when she would keep a keep case scan over the slipcover scan... so since she has said that it falls back to what people prefer on their voting.

Here is Gerri's post... maybe it will shed some light on this topic as well?...

Other then that I can not give an opinion since I don't have this particular DVD.

eagle,

Like Skip I come to believe the there are some that are so convinced that their scans or data is above reproach, even when some of it came from IMDB. Now that is either  arrogance or just plain obstinance, I don't know which.

Pete:

As Rory has indicated, the reflecvtive issue is totally irrelevant here. This particular slip is simply a high quality glossy image that is eminently scannable. So there is only one thing that applies, the RULE. Even Gerri's comment cannot override that.

I am trying trying to understand the issue here... but since I do not have the title in question... what is the reason given for the no votes? is there a spacific reason other then they prefer the keepcase?

LOL, the user in question, Pete, is in love with his own work and believes he is end all to scans, he like to say his are better and he got a couple of echoes. But the vast majority recognize that his scans which were quite nice did not follow the Rules and therefore have to be replaced.

And is the ones replacing them at least as good of scans? The reason I ask this is because then I could at least see why some would vote no... especially considering Gerri basically publicly said she don't stick hard and fast to that particular rule... and publicly stated even though it don't make her decision she does take into count the votes.

Then add the DVD to your wish list to have a look, you don't have to vote on it, or keep it in your wish list.

I did and from I could see (viewing the two side by side) there's a slight improvement on the rear of Rory's but apart from that I see No reason for any No vote only that of violating the Rules, by stopping the slip from being accepted.

You nailed it, Steve. As is also typically with a slip there is some slight difference in terms of color depth due to the higher quality of printing used in generating the slip versus the keep case.

I would suggest an addition to this part of the Rules cover Cover Scans.

If a DVD is packaged in a keep case, within a slipcase of some kind, scan the Cover Images from the outer slipcase. If, however, the Slipcase is reflective, and the inner cover art is identical, use the Keep Case art to scan, as it will give a better quality image.

The addition to this that I would suggest is:-

The only time a scan from the Keepcase would be accepted over an Outter Slip is When the Outter is Reflective or of a material that makes it hard to get a good scan.

I'm sorry. I don't claim to be a typist. For many years i had people doing my typing for me.  Now that I am semi-retired, secretaries are in my past for the most part.

@snabo

Steve I kind of like your suggestion. It make the rule easier to follow for some.

Your assessment of Rory's images is spot on.

@ Rory

Since these were declined, I guess Gerri's comment can override the rules.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.
