Cartmin There is no rule...as has already been stated. Folks, like me, do it purely for esthetics...no more, no less. accuracy?...please. Original has rounded corners = submitted scan has rounded corners
Original scan has square corners = submitted scan has square corners.
then that leaves the arguement as to which came first rounded or square?

| | Posted: | | | | I guess I'm not a "professional" scanner, because I never get a perfectly rounded corners with my scans. I find it hard enough to keep the covers oriented properly on the scanner glass and often find myself rotating the images in PhotoShop so that they aren't skewed one way or the other. So rounded corners may be the least of my problems. Square corners look cleaner to me. I think the only reason the corners are rounded in the first place is to make them go into the sleeve more efficiently.
My rule of thumb for contributing covers is: If there's no covers online, I'll contribute mine. If the online cover is wrong (re-release, wrong UPC, etc.) I'll contribute mine. Since I prefer covers that look good to me than those which most closely match the original cover, I don't want to try to foist my opinion onto the online database. This probably doesn't matter much, anyway, since by the time I would get around to scanning my covers, someone has already contributed good ones. | | | Another Ken (not Ken Cole)

The main reason why I stated "Does it really matter" above was because the conversation looked like it was actually starting to get a little heated. |
