Short Circuit (Also general, I think)
at the opening credits we get:

Film Edited By
Frank Morris

At Time Index  01:31:33 (End Credits) we Get:
Film Editors JEFF JONES - DALLAS PUETT
Assistant Film Editor KEVIN STITT
Appretice Editor ANDY GREENBERG

so I add 2 film editors to the credits, one user says no: you cant"t:
Rules Crew:
refering to the notes section:
Quote:
Principal Editors listed when credited together

I  think the condition is met: film editors listed together in the end credits

or do we just take the one from the Opening credits?

I would say Frank Morris, Jeff Jones and Dallas Puett all get Film Editor credits.

Agreed; it seems pretty clear they all did the work.

I'd've voted No if i owned the title.

The operative words are Principal and when credited together.  Jones & Puett meet neither criteria because because they are not credited together with the Principal editor, Morris.

If they weren't worthy to be co-credited with him they shouldn't be submitted.

Me too! The "Principal Editors listed when credited together" note is there for a reason. We can't just ignore it. Tweeter hits the nail on the head: Frank Morris gets a big credit in the opening credits, and Jeff Jones and Dallas Puett do not - they're buried somewhere deep down in the end credits. That doesn't make them the "principal editors listed when credited together" - they're not. IMHO, the rule is crystal clear, and this is exactly the situation it applies to. They should be left out.

there is a problem if you formulate it like that: All credits should come from the end credits.
Film Edited By
Frank Morris
is only in the opening credits.

Principal in my understanding is Film Editor and not Assistant or Apprentice Film Editor.

Huh?! Says who? That would be quite problematic for the vast majority of the director, writer, producer, editor and production designer credits...

That would contradict your submission and premise.  If only end credits are to be used you should have dropped Morris, not appended names.

First line of Credit section of Rules:
Take Crew Credits from the film credits only; list names exactly as they are in the credits.

"End" credits isn't mentioned until the Cast-specific section.

Okay, that's that cleared up. As for the rest: IMHO, the "Principal Editors listed when credited together" rule is crystal clear, and this is exactly the situation it applies to. Jeff Jones and Dallas Puett just don't meet these criteria: they're not credited together with principal editor Frank Morris.

I've removed lots of such additional editors from profiles referring to this section of the rules - please let's not start re-entering them...

This seems to be the appropriate way to interpret the Rule.

I agree that Jeff Jones & Dallas Puett would not get a Film Editor credit as they do not meet the criteria stipulated by the rule "Principal Editors listed when credited together". They are obviously not listed together with the Principal Editor Frank Morris.

I agree. "Principal" means "first or highest in rank, importance, value, etc.; chief; foremost. " That's the operative word. If two or more people share that rank, they would be credited together. In this example, however, Frank Morris is the principal.

Once again an old question and the answer is still the same. NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As James described.
The keyword is credited TOGETHER, together is NOT one in the opening and one in the closing.

To me principals are the same as supervisors. They all are the head of their department and therefore I enter both main and separate film editors as well as supervising crew and regular crew.
