I own both editions of The Day After Tomorrow.

Time-Mark 1:56:30
The regular edition gives an OMB credit to two writers.
From the end credits.

"Suggested in Part by the Book "The Coming Global Superstorm"  by Art Bell & Whitley Strieber"

The All-Access Edition doesn't credit them at all.

Just wondering if it's correct or not to credit them.

Nope not yet, And actually your example helped resolve it. Think aout it, what category would you plug it into, it doesn't fit anywhere. The Day After Tomorrow is a work of fiction, while "The Coming Global Superstorm" is ostensibly a research book, I won't go so far as to call it a work of non-fiction, it's actually more of an opinion piece. But there are NO characters deroved from the book, so OCB?...Nope. There is no Story in that book that  releates to the film, there is no Screenplay and their Writing had nothing to do with the film., in any direct way.

OMB

On what basis, hal. there are no stroylines in Superstorm which lead to OMB. Don't answer, thre question is rhetorical, i know why.. And you are dead wrong there is absoluytely noi logical explanation. How do I know this you might ask. Because you present NOTHING to support your opinion or counter the argument put forth. You simply wish to be contrary, as usual.

It's quite simple, Skip.

In the program when you select OMB it lists the following:

(book, poem, song, etc)  (bolding by me)

The actual credit says:

"Suggested in Part by the Book "The Coming Global Superstorm"  by Art Bell & Whitley Strieber" (bolding by me).

Now, let's analyze that credit.  It includes the the word "book".  The Program includes the word "book" for an OMB credit.

I know it's a real stretch that the use of "book" in the credit and the use of "book" in the program might support using OMB for this particular credit, but I'm willing to make that leap of faith.

That is simply the most ridiculous argument I have ever seen, Hal. Particularly from YOU. The book has NOTHING to do with the film, I vcam at least speak to this with some authority as I won both the book and the film.

Incredible, simply incredible. Thanks for the laugh.
I assume yyou weren't REALLY being serious.

If the book has absolutely nothing to do with the film, why, oh why did the film makers place a credit for the book in the film, oh wise one?

It seems to me like a very similar situation to Everything You Wanted To Know About Sex* and Dr. Reuben gets an OMB credit for that, so why not these two?

North:

I don't remember, north,  how was Ruben actually credited.

The common thread in the  book and the movie is the Superstorm, one is an opinion based analysis of the science which could produce such a thing, while the film was a work of FIICTION based on the concept of a Superstorm...that was it Hal.

Now you are simply being pedantic, hal. You can't present a logical argument so...obscure and blow smoke.

Once again you do not answer the question.

If the film makers saw fit to give a credit to the book (that would be original material) and the authors thereof, I don't see any valid argument for not including such credit in DVDP.

It is a credit in the film.  It does refer to original material.  There is no direction or definition within DVDP to limit how that original material is used within the film or to what extent.
