To anyone who doesn't think so should re-visit the discussion(s) on "Walt Disney Treasures".  Teeny difference with the Treasures line. The Treasures are a catch-all for all kinds of disparate material who's only common thread was that they were produced by the Walt Disney company. In that sense they're not much different than Fox Studio Classics. It's just a branding method to move a bunch of unconnected material. All of these various Friends sets are collections of episodes from the same show, be they seasons or some other grouping method. Agreed, thats why Friends is in the title and collection not. The title of those Friends dvd's is as on the cover:

The reason I'm leaning this way is simply because of what a title is. The whole point of a title is to convey what something is. Making the title "The one with all the XXX" doesn't really tell us anything, now does it?
It seems to me that the proper titles is "Friends Collection" with a subtitle of "The one with all the XXX".
If I were to enter that into Profiler I would do "Friends Collection: The one with all the XXX". That would all go in the title field and the edition information would be left blank.
I shouldn't have to look at edition information to finally be informed that I'm looking at a collection of Friends episodes.
In my mind, this viewpoint is in line with any other number of editions that I can think of. Walt Disney Treasures. The title is Mickey in Color volume 1, the edition is Walt Disney Treasures. The title clearly identifies what you are dealing with, the edition simply shows it's branding. Same with Fox Studio Classics, Criterion Collection and even our Widescreen editions. | | | | Last edited: by mdnitoil |

I can understand the argument that "Friends Collection" may be the edition or it may be the title but I can't understand how you can simply change whet is right there on the box and say the title is just "Friends".  |

And since when has the title been created so that it conveys anything? What I would hold locally is of course completely different from what should be contributed. But the rules don't say anything about the title being helpful for someone to find it. Anyway if they have the UPC then they can use that can't they?
