First off I love that everybody wants an official opinion on EVERYTHING. Ken would NEVER be able to get any programming done. Persoally, I want him programming.

Personally, I'd gladly wait a full year for the next beta if Ken stated his "official opinion" (through a rules update, preferably) on, say, ten of the most-debated issues right now (not so much about this case type, obviously, but rather on dealing with suffixes, parsing, theme writers, various "supervising" crew credits, CLT-titles-vs.-profiles, and so on).

Right on!

I want to be able to talk to Bill Gates and have him clarify some things and make some changes for ME...I don't think it's gonna happen.

Just wanted to mention that these case types are not exclusively Australian or European. I went to HMV yesterday and saw about 7-8 titles, maybe a total of 15 cases, of these. They were all cartoons and other kids programming.

You can add my vote to those who thinks it should be a new case type.

I'd never seen any before reading this thread. I was in ASDA the other day and they had about 7 or 8 different titles on the shelves.

I am not seeing anything that sounds significant yet, though Ken would have to make the call. As I said earlier do we really want to wind up with an unmanageable list of Cases simply to assuage the of users who dom not want anything to ever be custom. How about the Seinfeld refrigerator case, or the Planet oif the Apes head case from a few years back. I happen to believe that custom works very nicely unless a case type becomes far more prominent than this one seems at this time. I don't need or want to see an endless description of Cases, which will also result in various aruments as users try to make a particular case meet their definition.

Skip, this is not a 1-off like the examples you've used.  It's a growing trend, a bit like slimpacks were a few years back.  Yes, at the end of the day it is Ken's decision.  This thread is informing his decision.

Don't fall into the trap of assuming that your experiences are the norm.  A lack of something in your experience does not invalidate it.  As has been stated and reinforced by other users, it is particularly used for children's programming, so it's not surprising that many users, including yourself, are yet to encounter them.

LOL, it depends on how you define children's programming. Mine would be the 1950s and 60s(to a lesser extent) or the 1980s (my kids), which I doubt will see this type of case.  Thank GOD, I missed Barney, BARELY.

My concern as I stated is trying to create what will wind up being a true mess, with something for every conceivable case out there, do you really want to see list of cases as broad as we already have for Countries with more to come, I don't. We could easily define a "lunchbox" case as there are shows released in cases that resemble the lunchboxes of the period, but I personally don't feel it necessary. There are not enough of them and Custom works quite nicely, as I think it does for these thjat have been described here. Just my opinion, but this kind of thing can quite easily become a MONSTER. We have people who don't want to use other for language or Country. There may be only ONE title fromthat country or for a given language but we HAVE to have it defined. It gets silly.

Programming aimed at children. It's not rocket science.

Which would of course be aimed at a much older audience.

"Other" is not available in the country list in profiler. I wish it were. And maybe also "Multi".

It's not your concern though, it's Ken's.  This is a discussion, and although you often forget it, you're not here to quash all new ideas.  You keep throwing in red herrings.  We are talking case types and you start talking countries.  We talk a case type that is increasing in prevalence (138 just from one Australian reseller, and appearing in other localities as well), and you talk one-offs.  Nobody is asking for a list of every conceivable case type, but this one, which as I've already stated is increasing in prevalence.

You are entitled to your opinion, but stop bullying others.  I'm sure you don't see it as such, but that's what it is.

I am not bullying, I am not talking about countries. I was not the one who brought up ANY country, other than the reference to the Country or Language Listing. I am voicing my strongly held opinion. Who thew hell are you tp try and quash that opinion or are we only entitled to talk about things  of which YOU personally approve, wom6at and iin the manner in which YOU personally approve of discussing it. All you have done with your comment is deepened my opposition to this idea. we do NOT need to define EVERY posssible case that comes down the road.

If I read you correctly your opposition has deepened because W0mb6at said for you to stop bullying others?    This is something you have accused others of doing and blasted them for it (myself included). If you are for it great. If you are against it, also great. But if you're opposing something even stronger simply because someone said something you don't like that's just wrong. We have a hard enough time around here without letting personal feelings get into the "debates"

Of course if you didn't mean what I think you mean then ignore everything I just said.

As to the new case type being requested it sounds to me like this is becoming a big thing in other parts of the world. I would not be opposed to adding this case. It certainly can't be compared with the one of a kind cases given as examples in this thread (like the ape head).

I would suggest someone in these regions where it is becoming common to take the link ninehours posted and perhaps find some more examples and make it a feature request.

No I am not accusing him of bullying, that is a childish comment in my opinion. I AM accusszing him of essentially saying I am not allowed to voice my opposition to this kind of stuff. That is an absurd comment on its face, rick and only serves to convince me that i am correct.

I oppose thought control in ANY form, by rep vote are by direct attack. I attacked no one but I am accused of bullying. That is thought control. In effect, I don'tlike your opinion and voicing it strongly is bullying. I will be told to shut up by NO ONE.
