Thanks for the advice everybody.  I think I'm just going to continue to have no country listed for those whose CoO is not available.  After all, as Skip pointed out, if I acquire a film from whatever country I change the value on, then that's a new headache entirely.  I enjoy foreign films quite a lot, so there's a definite possibility of such an acquisition.

I hope that in the future they'll update Profiler to reflect that movies are made in more than a few countries, even if those few do dominate the industry.  I mean, there's only one African country listed (South Africa), so if, say, Wend Kuuni ever comes out on DVD it'll have to have no country listed as well, since Burkina Faso isn't an option either.  *wants all her old VHS on DVD*

I suppose I'm just anal and OCD about cataloging, but I've been going through my collection and trying to make sure that all of my profiles have the country of origin listed.  But I've encountered a bit of a problem...

I have the DVD of a film whose country of origin is not one of the choices that is available (Afghanistan, the film is Osama).  Is there a way to add a new country to the drop down choices?

Most of the time those movies (like Osama) are financed by other countries (co-production): in the case of Osama by Japan, Iran, The Netherlands and Ireland. Probably wiser to ignore CoO in such a case.
