My original contribution is as the title appears on the front of the DVD case
Which is correct?

How can a correction to a title that is obviously wrong be approved for inclusion in the database? It doesn't even match the cover scans? |

The Edition field is for distinguishing between DVDs, and for indicating special versions and collections (for example The Criterion Collection, Widescreen, Full-Screen Edition).

I am not saying it's the most sensible way to do things, but it's how we handle them under the current rules. (Which don't make a lot of sense always) Look at the thread on how to name the "Friends" discs for more wackiness. |

It's not title "MGM Midnite Movies: Some Scary Film" It's Title: Some Scary Film, Edition: MGM Midnite Movies" I agree that 'The British Transport Films Collection: Volume Seven: The Age of the Train' make sense, but the rules don't seem to take common sense into account. Submit it and see what happens :-) |

| | Posted: | | | | Like I said earlier, I'd go with 'The British Transport Films Collection: Volume Seven: The Age of the Train', for one simple reason.
If I had this entire series, I'd want them to show up in my list in sequential order of volumes (and yes, I know that could be accomplished with the sort title).
These are "Volumes" of a "series" of films. The series is called "The British Transport Films Collection". I view 'The Age of the Train" as a subtitle, not as the main title (even though it is in larger print).
What confuses the issue is the use of the word "Collection" which would indicate an 'Edition', but then they essentially add a 'Volume' number which traditionally goes in the 'Title' field not the 'Edition' field.
If you look at this without the actual words, the format would be:
XXX: Volume Seven: YYY (all in the title field)
I have to agree that we have never placed a Volume Number in the 'Edition' field. I think that would set a bad precedent.
