I am updating old profiles of my collection, adding produced nation.

Some profiles was not contibuid when the change of invocare to invelos. For that, some of these profilers are thinking that new and not accepted why the cast and crew is not explained how was put.

I am not the people who made the profiler originaly, I can say how the cast and crew was made.

I only added produced nation, not changing another date, because that I can explain how was these dates aceptep in invocare.

I think these contributions, will be accepted.

At some point during the transition from Intervocative to Invelos the old IVS database was converted to Invelos, however some existing profiles, including the ones without cover scans and some with - apparently - invalid UPCs/EANs were not converted.

You are more than welcome to contribute the profiles that were not converted, just make sure you follow the current Contribution Rules and you document where the data came from. A referral to IVS will not do. Especially documenting where you got the cast and crew data is critical if you want to get your contribution accepted. Which effectively means you will have to verify the IVS data by comparing them to the actual movie credits.

Probably it got declined because you didn't give any sources for your changes.

Check under Online menu "My profiler -> Contributions" for "NO"-votes. If you click on the results you get the reason for the votes. Sometimes Invelos gives statements too.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I am doing these, and contribution are not acepted. They think is all new contribution and not only minimum corrections in not converted profile.

If I not document cast and crew, they not acept. But I don't made change in profiles in cast and crew.

Especially documenting where you got the cast and crew data is critical if you want to get your contribution accepted.
That's the problem. Is critical one thing that I don't made change

I check. They put alwais: Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

If I only change put produced country and corrected invalid disc-id, how can I sources for thing new because lost with invalid disc-id in change to Invelos?

OK, before changing any information in the profiles I think the most important step is to get the profiles into the Invelos database first.
I think it may be clearer for the screeners if you write something like:
"Transferring old Intervocative profile into Invelos database. No information has been changed"
Just keep it nice and simple. Just make it clear that you've not changed anything.
If you're still worried about the cast & crew being rejected then you may want to add that these are Japanese titles (they look like Japanese titles - are they?) and so you can't read the credits to check them.

Then, once the profiles have been accepted you can add the disc ID and country of origin and make notes saying what changes you're making.

You may have checked fields other than Produced Country and Disc-ID.  You do not have to contribute other fields (like cast/crew) if you only want to change CoO or Disc-ID.

The problem is that these are new profiles to the Invelos database and so (if I remember rightly) you don't get the tickboxes when submitting.

So if these are new profiles according to Invelos all data must be documented. Ken did port over all the "Old IVS" data some while ago so if they are not in the current Invelos DB they must be considered as NEW.

Hence full documention will be required.

Seems reasonable - copying data (from wherever) should always be re-verified before submitted IMO.

After re-reading FHarlock thread statements for reason for declined contributions
"Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions." it is clearly evident that regardless of what the submission contained, there was clearly not any documentation as to where what was submitted had been come by.

I would suggest that you (FHarlock) re-read the rules governing submissions. They are there for all our benefits. If you sit down and take the cast list from the actual credits word for word and I (for arguments sake) come along a week later and can disprove your credits the screeners will take note that you are not as trust worthy as you claim, and will thus treat future submissions with scepticism, but on the other hand if I and many other users agree with your submission / updates this will also work in your favour with the screeners and your fellow users.

I am finding that there are several users in the forum's who when they submit a change to a profile for which I also own, I know I won't have to go to the shelf get the DVD and check it, but at the same time there are several that I know I will have to get the DVD so as to check the submission against.

EAN/UPC will obviously come from the cover.
Disc ID's - best left to DVDP itself to read these.
Cover scans should be taken using a scanner (unless they are of a pre-release).
Cast -  where did you get the cast list from.
Crew - see above.
RRP (SRP) - check a few of the websites (most retail at the same price in case they lose out to a competitor).
Audio - do you have an A/V Amp (if so what does it say) or the DVD menus, or what programs are available on the net to determine what are on a DVD.(try IfoEdit)
Video - there are tools available on the web to measure or state that your using what is stated on the cover and that if proved otherwise etc.
Subtitles see Audio.

Don't be frightened to ask for help...we don't all bite, well not often anyway.

The problem is the grace period for doing this has long since passed.  As far as Invelos is concerned, and rightly so in my opinion, these are new profiles and must be treated just like any other new profile.  As such, if he wants to contribute the entire profile, he must document the entire profile.  It may not sound fair, but it is what it is.

I believe you're right, and I hadn't though of that.  That said, the contributor has to follow the rules even if all he is doing is "copying" data from another approved profile.  So if his cast list has uncredited actors in it, he MUST either document them or drop them.  The fact that there is an existing profile online that includes a cast list with uncredited people does not mean you get a pass when you resubmiting that cast list for a new version of the same title.
