That was the first problem I found after I bought my widescreen monitor with 1920x1200 resolution... I believe to have read somewhere that approx. 80 characters line-length is most poleasing to the human eye (and brain).

Achim (ya_shin) is right about long lines of text being hard to read. That's one reason why newspapers and magazines are printed in multiple columns. The first time I opened a website which expanded to fill the screen on my ws monitor, I thought I was watching a tennis match from the net -- actually having to move my head from side to side to follow the text. I completely agree. Actually I find the current fixed with layout extremely annoying. When I resize a window it's not because I want extra space around the content, nor is it to have some of the content hidden forcing me to use a horizontal scrollbar. It is surprisingly enough because I either want the content next to something else I am working with, or because I want to change the line length of the text to make it easier to read. Remember: If you use the maximize button, then you need a bigger monitor. Even an application like Visual Studio I hardly ever maximize, even though I only have a 21" WS monitor (+ a 20" secondary, but VS is typically on the primary monitor). | | | Regards
