I'd say your opinion is about correct. Agreed. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. | Posted: | | | | In a similar way, Limitless (5-060116-726619) is up for voting on at the moment, for the single change of the addition of an Other Feature: Lenticular Sleeve. I was going to vote no for the reasons stated here (I even wrote why in the No box), but then relented as I realised I’d seen plenty of booklets added and approved as Other Features, which I don’t think are Disc Features. I also did a search and found an existing example of this as a single change to a profile being approved, so I changed my vote to a Yes. The voting is presently 6-0 in favour of the change.

Also, I include in my Profiler database VHS tapes, audio DVDs, audio books (digital, cassette and CD), video games (digital, DVD and CD) and 'enhanced' CDs with video tracks on them, as well as films and TV I've bought digitally. So I'm an anarchist, deal with it. Just be thankful I don't include most of my records and CDs etc in it too; don't think I haven't been tempted... |

| Posted: | | | | Other Features are used for things, such as booklets, that are not covered in the other data fields. Since Embossed or Lenticular Sleeves are Case Types then they should not be listed under Other Features. |

| Posted: | | | | I have seen such things too... booklet.... statuettes... what have you. But there is a difference here. There is no other place to put this info. But in the case of these slip covers (Sleeves) we do.
To me this is no different then...
- Checking off Keep Case and then putting Alpha in Other Features. - Checking off Featurette and then putting the name of the Featurette in Other Features
If Embossed or Lenticular Sleeve was added to Other Features for titles I own... I would definitely vote no. These are already covered by the slip cover check box. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | Whilst I understand some actually collect slips and embossed versions may be worth more I agree with the responders here that for DVDP purposes this is not suitable for Other Features. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | Embossed or lenticular is just an enhancement of the artwork and thus not a type of feature.
The only possible way I could even see it being a feature is if it was a store exclusive. For example the Airplane Best Buy exclusive Blu-Ray release had a lenticular slip-cover. I think that once it wasn't a store exclusive that the common release either had a standard slipcover or none at all. |

| Posted: | | | | Okay, I’ve changed my vote for the proposed change to Limitless to No. I've also drawn this thread to the attention of the screeners in my notes, in explaining my reason for the No vote.

| Posted: | | | | The contribution for Limitless got declined. As this was the only thing in the contribution, this seems to suggest that Lenticular covers (and probably similar 'artwork enhancements') aren't Other Features.

| Posted: | | | | I always thought, or looked at it like, anything inside the case or packaging is an 'other feature". Slip covers are on the outside and have a check-box, so they are covered. If they are embossed or lenticular or whatever else, that should be seen on the scans. Plus I've never seen an embossed slipcover that was replaced with a non-embossed one. Slips come on the first run, then disappear, and are already covered by the first release rules.
I could argue that booklets don't belong either. Maybe we should have a checkbox for booklets just like slip covers. I do like knowing if the disc I bought used was supposed to have a booklet or not which is why I don't mind it being under other features now, although a checkbox sounds better.
The store exclusive thing (like Airplane mentioned above) is a grey area, esp. if it's the same upc underneath. If there's an alternate UPC on a sticker I'm all for it having it's own entry, but if not then it's questionable if it should be entered or mentioned, esp. when most won't have the slip. | | | Last edited: by bigdaddyhorse |
