UNIVERSAL STUDIOS: Publisher: Universal Studios Licensor: Universal Pictures International Distributor Universal Pictures (Norway)
How should we register these in the Media Company section? |

| Posted: | | | | Well, as for Warner, I specifically remember that when we discussed this in the Contribution Rules Committee forum, that it was specifically decided that we would never enter "Warner Bros. Entertainment" and "Warner Home Video", but just "Warner Home Video". That specific example resulted in the addition of the ""Some companies (using similar but different names) may serve more than one function. List such companies only once, using the name from the logo. If you are unsure of the function performed, do not list the company" part of the rules. IMHO, the same applies to Universal. Link here. |

That's how I have practised the rules, but some negative votes on my contributions made me unsure.
I use "Warner Home Video" and "Universal Pictures", which I feel gives the best information. |

And getting the name from a logo has all sorts of trouble attached to it. 20th Century Fox anyone? | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

I use "Warner Home Video" and "Universal Pictures", which I feel gives the best information. Personally I recall having voted no when you have, as you do above (but no one addresses it?), added suffixes indicating locality. That is wrong per the rules in any case. Never add "... Norge"/"... (Norway)", etc. Irregardless and further, it is said here that if I own a movie that is produced by e.g. Universal Studios and also distributed by their subsidiary Universal Home Entertainment (et al), I am only allowed to add Universal Studios...? |

Since we have three slots for media companies, I don't see that it does any harm of listing both. But I don't see that it ads any useful information either. But then I'm only interested in the distributor anyway, I don't know why Invelos have chosen to complicate things further and then write a rule that apparantly requires a commitee to interpret. But that's just the way things are here. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

I believe that is correct as the Rules sate to strip off any locality reference so taking off the Norge would leave what you've entered. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |
