| Posted: | | | | Paramount no longer has a branch in The Netherlands, so their output is now distributed by Universal Pictures over here. The covers now consistently state "Distributed by Universal Pictures, under licence from Viacom Global." I'm sure this arrangement applies to a few other localities as well.
So far, so good: both "Viacom Global" (as "licensor") and "Universal Pictures" (as distributor) are listed as media companies. The question is: should "Paramount Home Entertainment" be listed as media company, too?
The fact of the matter is that those exact words are not seen anywhere: neither on the cover, nor on the disc, nor on-screen. The closest thing is a small animated vignette seen on-screen, with the familiar Paramount-mountain, accompanied by the words: "Paramount HD, a Viacom company". Note that Viacom - Paramount's parent company - is already listed as a media company. So is Viacom's media company entry enough, or do we also translate this "Paramount HD, a Viacom company" credit into an additional "Paramount Home Entertainment" media company entry? |
