We've updated the title capitalization rules to simplify the rules for English titles.  In addition, the system will standardize all US locality entry titles during contribution submission.

Yes.  You modify it in your local database and lock it.

That's your answer to everything. No need to fix it, just lock it. Isn't the goal of the database to be able to download a profile with correct data? Or am I missing something.

You aren't missing anything.  I'd still prefer to take it from the source when it's listed, but this makes it easy and consistent.  I hope a workaround comes about for those needed titles.

I'm all for the consistency, it's just that in this case it changes the pronunciation/meaning of the title.

Thought it was a sensible question. Was looking for more than just "lock it in your local" answer. Seems like that is getting to be the most often answer to questions lately.

You are missing the fact that the online database cannot be all things to all people.  It must be a compromise.

I don't think he is missing anything.  He isn't asking it to be all things to all people.  He was asking for the correct title to be in the database.  It isn't rocket science.

I don't believe Ken is planning to modify the spelling.

he did not ask ken to do no such thing.  are you saying that Capitalization is not importnat?  is it not part of being part of the correct title?

I do not like automatic tools and prefer thoughtful research.

We have 43 profiles in the database for "NYMPH()MANIAC". Most are "Nymph()maniac", others are "Nymphomaniac", but none are the result of the tool, "Nymph()Maniac"

It's a good idea, but it breaks on odd titles such as M*A*S*H.

Do we apply the new "Titles" capitalization rules for the "Edition" field too then?

I don't see that specified in the new rules under "Edition", but I'm seeing some contributions altering the edition capitalization.

I'd expect so, yes. Why would we change "with" to "With" in the Title and then leave it as "with" in the edition? If we do it, then let's do it accross the board.
