You're right about that. It stopped being a real contest around 10-15 years ago and there's a lot of political voting these days. I still watch it, but only for the songs, not the contest. |

Oh indeed, the actual winner might not be the result of political voting but overall songs that should do better don't because neighbours vote for neighbours, etc... |

Even the 2008 entry got 12 points from one country (Hungary, if I recall this correctly), but definitely not for the quality of the song (which redefined the word "earsore"), but because one of the singers came from there. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | I think it's just been difficult for the old western countries to accept that the new east came in and took over the show. But twice in a row now for the old west, maybe we finally are past the cold war and let the best song win. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 | | | Last edited: by Nexus the Sixth |

Though I hear Eurovision is generally more about the politics than the music, so I don't know as the actual song really matters that much. Eurovision is about music, costumes, performance and just silly things.Theres some point in the politics, too, but that only matters to the ones in the middle and end. -> nobody will never and has never won, come second or even tenth because of neighbour votes. And thats why politics dont really mean anything. Because theres not a single country in Europe that can win the hearts of 100 million people just for being a specific countries citizen. BTW, Germany doesnt belong in any voting block, and they won. We belong in the Nordic voting block and we didnt even get to the finals. So much for politics | | | Last edited: by whispering |
