For the HD DVD zealots, I know..."it doesn't mean anything".

A Zealot does not have an open mind and grabs at any bit of information, real or imagined, that supports their position.  I wonder who in this thread that applies to?

You...without question...and a few others.  Anyone that can't bring themselves to accept that HD DVD as a format can fit neatly within the parameters of the Blu-ray format would fit in that category.

There you go making assumptions.  I have no vested interest in who wins this format war.  I am quite happy buying my DVDs until a winner emerges.  What I will not do, however, is sit by and watch you spout rumor and inuendo and claim it is fact.  That is all you have done these last few pages.

As for who the zealot is, that would be you.  You dismiss anything that doesn't agree with your opinion and grab on to anything that does...even if it can't be proven as fact.

What a cyclopsian tool.

You do know enough to know the opposite can not be accurately said.  Therefore, you know it's not logical to claim the HD DVD FORMAT has technical advantages over Blu-ray (BTW current hardware is NOT the format...it's the hardware for format playback).

Wrong.  I dismiss things that are not facts (like wild opinions) when it comes to the tech.  I will always accept facts.  You can't say the same.  You don't have to own a HD DVD player to be a HD DVD zealot (just so you know).

This has been your fatal mistake throughout this whole discussion.  bob9000 doesn't care.  I don't care.  Anyone who survived the Beta wars knows that it doesn't really matter which is better, it only matters which one wins.  I can't speak for bob on this last point but I am waiting until there is a winner.  If it is HD DVD, fine.  If it is Blu-ray, fine.  Doesn't really matter to me.

Actually, I can.  The difference is I don't always agree with what you believe are facts.  My criteria is different.  Your being a zealot, however, prevents you from accepting that fact.

You are correct...but you do have to care.  I don't.  Can you say the same?

See how knowledgeable this CTO is about HD DVD.  This is taken directly from the article.

Bell seems to be very schooled on the abilities and capabilities of Blu-ray and HD DVD.

Sorry A_S, but your attempt to impeach Alan Bell's credibility isn't going to work. The man has a PhD in physics and has been involved in optical disc development since 1982, and has been awarded patents in relation to optical discs and digital media.

What you are giving is his history.  Technology is constantly evolving.  It is extremely hard to stay up with those aspects when you are that high up.

I see you happened to leave out his quote.  So, are you saying that HD DVD is still working on 45GB HD DVDs?  If not, you know where his HD DVD knowledge level is on that...period.

I have to agree with Unicus69 here in that you are a zealot!!!  I also called you a spin doctor because that is what you do, you spin the truth to fit into your narrow world of fact and fiction!!!

As Unicus says, you continue to live by some "as of yet undisclosed source" who tells us that money motivated this decision, blah blah blah, but you easily dismiss the QUOTED CTO of Paramount as being unknowledgable about the specs of HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray???  Your argument lacks any logic yet you SPIN it to sound like you actually know what the hell you are talking about.

What you fail to realize is that most of the people here know cowpie when they see it!!!

And you think that because he's an executive that he doesn't keep up on technology? It's his job to make the technological decisions that will guide Paramount's digital future. He says in the interview there is a 45gb HD-DVD disc in development, but because he doesn't state how long that has been, you try an use that as a way to show he doesn't know what he's talking about?

Really?  Have you ever been that high up?  Why is it so easy for you to stay up with things but someone who is actually involved in the industry can't?  You have no idea what this guy knows yet you dismiss him out of hand.  That is the sign of a true zealot.

Speaking for myself....if a good combo player (one not only quasi-hd dvd compatible like the lg) drops to the $400 CDN range b4 there is a clear winner, I am gonna buy it.... until then, or until one side quits the field of battle for good, I am waitng. I have a feeling though, that the progenitors of these two formats are gonna be digging their heels in for years to come.

LOL at that graphic!

Interesting quote from the Ball interview:

Quote:
If you're going to do BD-Java, you need someone who's capable of programming at a low level. With HDi, you don't need somebody with that additional level of training. We don't need programmers to code our discs.

I can see that being an issue for studios.  We'll see what happens.

I thought Blu-ray was going to win because you need a key to play the disc. So it would be harder to copy. I havn't study how easy or not it is to copy a HD DVD or Blu-ray for that matter. If I was rich I would buy a kalidescape system and not worry about have dvd's every where.

Good lord, a 72 page thread of people continually responding to some blu-ray troll?  Ken really needs to start working on some sort of kill filter.
