i put sell some bad ones.... because as a dvd bargain hunter... its inevitable that i'll buy a dvd because it was $5 and not because i really want that movie in the collection... i try to cull out about 10 dvds every three months due to either not needed it or new versions coming out etc...

i've already pretty much maxed out how much shelving i can fit... i have room for about 150-200 more dvds, which puts me in the 1200 range... once that hits... i have no plan as of yet... but i would imagine it will be elaborate and involve more rooms of the house.

I've always believed homes ought to come with two garages, one for vehicles, the other filled with shelving to act as a warehouse for seasonal clothing & decorative items, freezers & second refrigerators, and everything else we all accumulate but do not want to give up.

I'd need a two-car garage and a four-car sized warehouse.
If it wasn't for bad taste, I wouldn't have no taste at all.

Buy the house next door and convert it to a DVD storage warehouse.  That's the only rational solution, right ?

Yeah, but only loan the ones in cold storage or the double-dips that strange people insist on keeping and you've got a rolling stock!

it would be nice to choose more than one, but since i've already done it, i opted for toss those family photos...

i also cram them into the shelves in the closet. i did sell stuff on half.com for awhile, but got tire of having to going the mailbox...

[in other words, he's a lazy sod.]

my other trick, especially with some tv series and multi-movie sets, is to get mutli-disc cases, toss together some cover art, and consolidate. i cut the buffy collection down from two feet to one of shelve space (all 39 discs fit in 4 1-1/2" wide keepcases). i've also done this with all the star wars films (1 1-1/2" case).

[what he's not mentioning is where the blue blazes to keep all the original boxs..which are mostly stuff under the bed...]

i also have a growing collection of 12" action figures that are fighting for shelf space. it gets ugly. what chance does a slipcased clark kent have again a sword weilding 30-points of articulation Hellboy????

krik is stopping there because he doesn't like to read posts as long as the one he's typing...

My house has a small 5 room apartment attached to the rear. I'm afraid I had to evict the tenent to make room for my collections. I proceded to build floor to ceiling shelving units throughout to hold my collections. My problem is, with 3,000+ hardcover books, 1,000+ paperbacks, 1,000+ VHS tapes, and 2,500 DVDs, I'm running out of room!!!

I don't own a digital camera yet -  I'm looking to buy one in the very near future. Once I do, I'll be sure and post it. Of course then there will be proof that I'm out of my mind!

I've been buying a lot lately again because the pile on top of my desk is going to disappear (I had absolutely no place anymore, and I refuse parting with the cases). I bought a new house, and I already have 1 1/2 wall "for DVD purposes only". So, in a few weeks I'll have my problem solved.

I sell/swap the ones that I no longer have a desire to re-watch anymore. No point keeping them if I'm not going to watch them.

When I start running out of room for DVDs, it just gives me an excuse to clean out and throw away some more junk that has accumulated through half a dozen moves and thirty odd years.  You'd be surprised how much room you can create that way.
