We use scotch tape, press it down and pull up quick, works most of the time. For the stubborn ones, take out the label, and rub small amounts of smooth peanut butter over the adhesive and wipe off with a paper towel.

I have to know - how in the world did you think to put peanut butter on the DVD to remove the adhesive?!

Peanut oil, and the butter itself is a very mild abrasive.

It's not advertising it's just some of newest DVD's in my collection (yes, from phpDVDPRofiler). Maybe it's a bit too intrusive though, but talking about intrusive, the "what I watched recently" banners seems more so I think.

I'll consider changing it if it's too annoying.

Well I dunno..,... It's like "am I the only who finds it annoying?  With these flashing displays non stop.,, etc,, . These boards are getting really plastered up with small flash animations/ home country flags/ animated gifs  and what videos we watched recently etc.., pretty soon there will probably be a little box with running video of our favourite scenes of our favourite movie..,
Hey.., Has that been done yet??

Thanks to DVDoug's tip in the IVS Forum I don't see any signature at all in this forum. All you have to do is to create a file named 'userContent.css' in the 'chrome' directory of your firefox profile with the following text:
Quote:
@-moz-document domain(invelos.com) {
  .signature {
    display: none;
  }
}

It is something my mother has been doing since i was a kid (i am 44 now), she used peanut butter to remove just about all types of label adhesive, and even chewing/bubble gum from my hair on occasion. I did pay attention to her once in awhile.

I end up on some of my dvd's riping the plastic a little where the cover is trying to get them off. MPAA hates you for buying, copying or renting.

They bitch about you going to movies. It will suck when you are require to have the retail dvd to watch a movie. So you will no long be able to back them up no more to prevent scratching.

DVD's movies should cost $1 due to all the restricting and DRM crap!

Thanks for the hint! I may not have the other things people recommended, but I always have peanut butter on hand as a treat for the dogs!

What annoys me to no end is how they put plastic wrap on the outside of the DVD which is impossible to remove with your hands or teeth.. You need a sharp instrument to open. ( can you think of anything else these days that needs a sharp instrument to open?? .. Oh yeah  a can of soup,, .
Nope,,  scratch that they now have the type of tops you can open with your hands..
Bottle of Wine?? nope they are all going to screw tops now.

Then they have the audacity to put THREE,,, count em, 3 plastic adhesive strips on each side of the DVD to ensure you don't open the disc in the store and then try and get the disc out for theft and for what ?  a $10 disc??  A $10.00 pack of whatever's would be easier to steal..

Once home it is an all day affair for me to open and get three DVD's ready for viewing 'cause it takes me almost all day to get those @#$!*  stickers off  in that time.

The older DVDs I get on sale are the worst.
The summer heat in Arizona does wonder for these stickers, in June through August its 110 or more.
After they have been setting in the mail or UPS truck, by the time I get to them these stickers are literally baked on and come off in little pieces. As I try to remove them I think of all the wonder tortures I'd like to try on the clown that mandated their application.

I'll look for Goo Gone

"Goo Gone" is an excellent product for cleaning up tape residue. Been using it for years.

Ditto. Not sure if it's available outside of North America though. The website doesn't even list places outside of the U.S., but I know it's at least available in Canada. Failing that, plain old butter works too. Although it's a bit of a hassle removing the greasy residue afterwards.
