We listed some in another thread... but some from my collection alone... off the top of my head...

- All in the Family: Season 1
- The Dead Zone: Season 1
- Everybody Loves Raymond (All seasons I have so far... 1-3... modified digipak made of plastic that snaps shut)
- Sex and the City (all seasons I have so far.... 1-2)

So there  is 7 sets I have... off the top of my head that don't have slip covers.

Just out of curiousity (because I'm sure there's plenty of examples), what are some digipaks without a slip cover?  I can't think of any off the top of my head.

NO, people.  A SLIP CASE is what is used most often with digipaks, NOT a slip cover.  A slip cover has two holes, one in either end.

Not according to Ken's definition, John. He has repeatedly indicated that a digipack with a slip*** around it should be entered as 'digipak' with the 'slip cover' checkbox checked.

Where did these arbitrary definitions come from? It has been repeated regularly, but that does not make them fact. My dictionary certainly does not have anything about "holes" in the definitions.

As far as I am concerned the two terms are interchangeable... like season and series.

Nowhere did Ken restrict a "slip cover" to "has two holes".

What Ken did say is that any single unit (even with multiple discs in it) surrounded by a cardboard cover is a "slip cover".

That means single keepcases with a "sleeve" around them and Alien Quadrilogy which is a single digipak unit holding 9 discs surrounded by a sleeve.

Just go back to the thread where Ken defined this and it is perfectly clear!

So again, like I said before whats the difference between a SLIP CASE and SLIP COVER????

Take the for instance
"I Love Lucy: The Complete First Season" its in a SLIP CASE

Now take
"Saturday Night Live: The Complete First Season" its in a SLIP COVER

Dump the THINpacs out of Lucy and the Digipac out of Saturday Night Live.  Look at both SLIPS unfold then take them  apart.

The only difference I can find is the picture and writing on the cardboard.

As far as I'm aware, the difference between slip case and slip cover is how the profile is arranged, NOT any physical differences.

For example, a film in a keep case has a cardboard sleeve over it with 2 open ends. This has a case type of keep case with the slip cover checkbox ticked.

However a digipak containing 3 films also has an identical sleeve over it. In this situation, the parent profile has a case type of slip case, and the child profiles are digipak.

So the same physical style, but 2 different profiles. That's how I understand it works anyway.

Edit: I've posted some images of various examples of how I believe these new case types work here.

I know what your saying, and I know what Ken is saying.

What about the other Hundred or Thousand users that don't take the time to read the forums or the rules......  Yes we have a voting system to help weed this kind of problem out, and a forum to discuss it in, but thats not going to stop the nightmare that will be coming soon.

I see that there is a lot of this "slip cover" contributions now, how will this afect the once that do not beta tests 3.1.0 ??

Should not this contributions wait untill the version is out of betatesting?

Ole

If you don't use the new features in the Beta version, how will the Ken know whether the features work or not?  Not everything can be tested at the local level.

I was only conserned, and asked a simple question, but I understand now that the contributions would not affect the 3.0.3 so it is cool...

By the way, Dont think Ken needs help to push a button...

Ole

I'm sure Ken does know how to push a button without help.  But what is the point of a Beta release if not to get experience from a large number of users?

Thanks to northbloke's picture thread, I now understand a digipak without a slip case/cover.  For example, Meet Joe Black Ultimate Edition is like that.  As is American Pie Ultimate Edition.

Thanks

Ofcourse it is nessesary to have as many as possible to test the betas, but it cant effect the current release in anyway,  and it doesent so its, again! cool...

That's not the way I intepret Ken' statement.

Quoting Ken Cole:

Quote:
Slip Case should be used when the profile itself has no other case.  If the box set includes individual cases for children, all surrounded by a slip case, the box set profile will have slip case as the case type and the children will have their individual case types.  If the box set has a single multi-disc case surrounded by a cover, use the multi-disc case type for the box set and check the slip cover checkbox.

Reading the last sentence above, a single digipak with three films in it, contained in a "sleeve", would use a case type of "digipak" and get the "slip cover" checkbox ticked.

Thanks Hal - I'd never seen that comment by Ken. I'll amend by image thread accordingly.
