Sigh, why is this so difficult to understand?

I could ask the same question...

My comments have nothing to do with whether or not the data is correct.  My comments have everything to do with the rules.  Both Skip and Rifter are claiming removal is covered under the rules and voting 'no' is a violation of those rules.  I am sorry, but that simply isn't true.

Removal is allowed per Ken's post here in the forums.  The fact that it is allowed, however, doesn't mean it must be done in every case.  If you go back and read my posts, you will see that I made no reference to any specific profile.  That was deliberate.  Each case should be looked at individually and evaluated by the voters and, eventually, the screeners.

That's right:  "Removal is allowed per Ken's post here in the forums."  If you had stopped there then I would agree with you.  This has nothing to do with whether or not it must be done in every case, nor whether or not the data is accurate or totally bogus.  It has to do with the fact that the rules require such information to be documented.  Whether you like it being removed or not hasn't a damn thing to do with it either.  The fact is that voting NO on something that is legal per Ken's own words, is a violation of the rules on voting.  Just because you don't like it doesn't give you the right to try to veto that update.  You know that as well as I do.  If my (or anybody else's submission) meets the requirements for removal of that data, then I have every right to expect YOU to support it even if you don't like it.  If you can't bring yourself to do that, then by God vote neutral!

Then someone goes searching on the Web to try and find some kind of proof that a certain Actor was really in the movie, as if that is real proof that he was. I find this also naive.

Well, if you trust web sites  for stuff like theatrical release date or  "common name" of an actor (especially when more unrelated sources confirm it), why not for uncredited cast?
Besides, if you see a photography of an actor, you could just spot them when you watch the movie.

It seems to me that you guys like extremes!    Some of you would just leave data evidently copied from  IMDb, and not even try and verify it. Others, on the contrary, would just remove it... and not even try and verify it.

Not exactly.  I adhere to the school of thought that says use what is on the DVD and ONLY what is on the DVD.  If there is someone in a cameo role then make note of that in the Notes section of the profile, but keep it out of the cast list.

But certain people around here think I'm some sort of Philistine for suggesting that.

I didn't know the rules were updated when I voted on that.  So take your suppositions about my motives and ...  You guys got your wish on titles against all good sense, so just get off my back.

We got our wish? I thought Skip got his wish:

I certainly don't see Ken as going along with any majority. The majority wanted to automatically exclude any possessives. Ken actually wound up closer to my position, coupled with a battle plan to make some program mods to allow for MORE title data. The majority said to exclude unless you can verify otherwise, Ken did not say that

Title - Take the title from the DVD's front cover.  [Do not include possessives unless they can be documented as being part of the actual title. 47 votes

Well, if you equate 21 hours and one forum announcement later as "within hours", I guess you are right.    Michael even referenced the new rules in his contribution notes for Ivanhoe:

Unless you are removing data that is indeed correct, in which case a 'no' vote is perfectly acceptable...but of course you don't want to hear that since you are not concerned with whether the uncredited cast is correct or not. Your personal preference is not to have it there at all. If Ken didn't want uncredited cast he would have given as the go ahead to remove all of it and ruled against anyone entering it into the database. Since that hasn't happenned it means that data should be in the cast list and not any other place such as the notes section like you suggest.

Incorrect, Bodi. his personal preference follow the Rules and document the inclusion of (uncredited) data. If they caa't or won't then they should maintain such data LOCALLY ONLY. This is simply about doing it right.

Once again you make a statement as if it were a fact and you do not have sufficient information to reach that conclusion. You are, as usual when you make such comments, DEAD wrong.

Don't forget, Unicus there is more to the world than your or my narrow view of it. John made an observation, one which I happen to agree with. it appears as though John may have finally enough of this bull and he is not the first, nor will he be the last. You and others like to lay this at my feet, but I have news for you(generic) have driven off far more users than i ever could or have any desire...the sad part about it is that those users were actually truly productive of this Community, whether I agreed with everything they may have to say or not. I have suggested many times that we stop these childish games and insults, and look to our own houses before we start pointing at others, but YOU are no more interested than anyone else and I will not unilaterally disarm. Ready anytime you are...Gridley Nor will you drive me off, I have been here for seven years and watched the likes of you come and go, and will be here still.
