Enry:

The FEW threads here in other languagaes are nota big deal. Add up the numbers and multiply those numbers by the number of possible Forums dedicated to a specific language. The situation would quickly become near impossible to deal with, at any level.

Ken and Gerri have already had their say in the way they set things up. If you think this idea is original and has never been discussed before... well....then I don't know what to say.

There is no correct german translation for this phrase, I'd know of...

Actually, I copy-n-pasted it from a website with German insults and it said it meant "you stupid head".

A couple of years ago, a few of us set up a forum for discussing the contribution rules. We made up sub-forums for each DVD locality. Since Invelos set up its own sub-forum here for rules discussion, the site is no longer used much. But if anyone wants to use those sub-forums for non-English discussion, feel free.

Well, it doesn't say that either

Sie = You or She
dumm = dumb/stupid
fuhrt = nothing really (could be derived from driving/drove somehwo...)

According to the Windows Live Translator:

sie dumm  fuhrt = They stupidly drove

My now 96-year-old mother frequently used phrases she remembered her German-born grandmother used when Mom was growing up.  I suppose they were some of the pigeon-English my great-grandmom used, because when I was taking German in school, I couldn't understand what they were supposed to be.  I don't remember the exact phrase, but one of Mom's favorites was supposed to be a translation of "self praise stinks" and the last word of the phrase sounded like schtinkt.  Probably something not totally German and not totally English, either.  At least my great grandmother tried to learn English.  Her husband was in the US for about 50 years and never learned any English (at least as far as his kids and grandkids knew).  Everyone he worked with in the steel mill had immigrated from the same town in Germany, so they didn't need to learn English to get by.  Of course, that was 100 years ago, now.

My proposal was intended exactly contrary - to (re)unite the user base at one single site...

Then I'd be tempted to call you a "Dummkopf", if you copy'n'paste things, you don't understand...  ... but I'd never do things like that

Now I used to live in Germany back in the early 80's (Aschaffenburg), I still remember a few insults and that's one of them.  I thought of saying dummkopf but I wanted to use a phrase I haven't used before so it wouldn't be one of the common tourist quotes.  Now I know why I haven't seen that phrase before!
