due to local situation (4 different countries) there are compromises made. It is not up to us, users from other localities to dictate how they should deal with that situation. As the rules allow the use of foreign titles and the source is the dvd cover... So insisting not to use these titles as those are not on the front cover is not very helpfull for the users of this locality. The cover clearly indicates what its use is: each country has it's own section on that cover: as indicated at the front of this cover.
  • Denmark
  • Sweden
  • Norway
  • Finland
  • Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions.

Under Suomi (Finland) it says Armoton Maa (the localized title).

The back cover also says "Original Title: Open Range". So, the answers are already there.

  • I couldn't agree more.

To take this matter even further, in our locality we could even have 3 titles in the title field:
  • Dutch
  • French
  • German
  • example:
28 Days Later / 28 jours plus tard. (Ken is not providing a triple locality for Belgium (Dutch, French & German) (Contribution declined, local language dutch and french on the dvd cover)

I have no intention whatsoever to argue about localized titles. We (=the german users) do it all the time. I am just not a proponent of the usage of a "title" that is hidden in the cell of a back cover table. It opposes the very idea of what a title (in general, not just in DVDP terms)  should be.

You have lost me completely.  How does the location of the title oppose the very idea of what a title should be?  All a title is, simply put, is the name of the piece of work.

For me a title is the thing written in great letters on the front side of a thing. It declares what it wants to be called. And for this purpose it's irrational to hide it.

This is what I'd call a title:

And you conviently left out the clarification "between" those rules that declars "Use the title from the front cover" because it voids your argument.

    .

And you for the sake of convenience you neglect the foreign films
as you replace Germany by Finland all problems are solved!
or what do you think the intent is of that rule? Just for Germany only?

The title used on a website where the cover scan clearly indicates otherwise. And - correct me if I am wrong - but wasn't it just you that explained that the DVD itself is the only source for every information? And now you refer to a website just because it suits you?

Of course I don't think it's for german only.

But as I said earlier, this is a backdoor rule since it is introduced in the original title section and not the title section. Am I supposed to scan the entire rules - e.g. the overview section - because there could be another rule regarding the title?

I don't know the cultural meaning of the word "text" in these languages but I would assume that it indicates that this DVD contains danish, swedish, norwegian and finnish subtitles.
