Valen, you have brought up all this in the German Profiler forum. I included your proposal in the voting options. It got exactly zero votes, the proposal I posted above got 25 votes and a third one got 5 votes. This was a clean, democratic decision and that is the end of the story, period.

Just out of curiosity: What exactly does this have to do with what i wrote above? If you want to sneak in false information in the rating system, be my guest, but you should at least have the decency to play with open cards and don't pretend that the SPIO/JK labels are something they clearly are not.

For the benefit of non-German users I'm quoting this from Wikipedia, the FSK is the German ratings authority (like the British BBFC, or the US's MPAA):
Quote:
If a movie does not comply with FSK basic principles (eg glorification of violence), a rating can be denied. A movie which is not rated by FSK is checked for possible violation against applicable law by a jurist agency (Juristen-Kommission, JK) of the Spitzenorganisation der Filmwirtschaft (SPIO). The JK compiles certificates for the reviewed movies. Approved movies get the label "SPIO/JK geprüft". This label is rectangular, black and white, with "SPIO/JK geprüft" printed on. The movie must be handled like a movie rated with "Keine Jugendfreigabe".

That to me sounds like a rating. Just because it's not a rating by the FSK doesn't mean it can't be included in Profiler.

another reason to keep both, you maybe don't mind be seeing with a 18 age in your collection
and you maybe don't wanna be seen with a R18 in your collection, the program needs to be able to distinguish between the 2 categories.

As Paul has already said, all R18 titles would get the Adult rating in Profiler. There's no need for it to be there again.
Although it would be nice if "Adult" was renamed "R18" for all UK locality DVDs (and NR be renamed "Exempt").. hint, hint Ken..

the trouble with that idea is that I want to be able to select Adult dvds (no matter which region/locality) just by selecting Adult rating. If you start renaming this to R18 then thats correct for UK but not USA.

What it has to do with what you wrote is that you had your chance to discuss this, a lot of people read your opinion but a crystal clear majority decided otherwise.

I'm not trying to sneak in anything. I did not even make a proposal for the ratings, all I did was create the poll in the German Profiler Forum with proposals from other users (including your's) and post the result here.

That's why I made sure I said "renamed". As it's a rename rather than a separate rating they should still get grouped together. Think of it as a UK-specific "translation".

That's been a requirement on Non Rated media here in the UK since the 1984 Video contents act.

Steve

Just found the correct wording for the above.

But this is the DVD Profiler forum and all points of view should be discussed here so that Ken can make an educated decision.  Having a discussion in a forum that Ken isn't able to read doesn't do that.

You posted the results, but you did not post all the options or the discussion that lead to the final decision.  That doesn't give Ken the entire picture.  I can see how that might give the impression that you are trying to 'sneak it in'.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

As the current British Ratings are very inconsistent at the moment and Forget_the_Rest asked to change these here
and here, I'm repeating my preference in this topic to see if anyone is taken notice and agrees.

Quote:
<Locality Description="United Kingdom" ID="4" DVDRegion="2" BDRegion="B">
<Ratings Description="Film" ID="0">
<Rating Name="Uc" Description="Pre-school children" Age="1"/>
<Rating LegacyValue="1" Name="U" Description="Suitable for all ages" Age="4"/>
<Rating LegacyValue="2" Name="PG" Description="Parental guidance suggested" Age="8"/>
<Rating LegacyValue="3" Name="12" Description="Nobody under 12 permitted to view" Age="12"/>
<Rating LegacyValue="4" Name="15" Description="Suitable for 15 years and over" Age="15"/>
<Rating LegacyValue="5" Name="18" Description="Suitable for adults only" Age="18"/>
<Rating Name="R18" Description="R18 Restricted" Age="18" Variant="2" Adult="True"/>
<Rating Name="E" Description="Exempt from classification" Age="1" Variant="1"/>

I would prefer the above to be changed into the following:

<Locality Description="United Kingdom" ID="4" DVDRegion="2" BDRegion="B">
