Hmmmm....'The Matrix' was the second DVD I ever bought.

It might be time to "upgrade"!

Any chance they will change the ending for this edition?

I loved the tilogy right up until the ending.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.

I got The Complete Matrix Trilogy on HD DVD for $20, so I see no point in upgrading to this.  I wonder if they plan to do the Complete Trilogy on BD of just the Ultimate Collection?

Five 50GB BDs?  I hope they reencode the movies then.

I might have to go with the Japanese version of this.

Quote:
Warner Home Video Japan has revealed the details for the upcoming Blu-ray box set release of 'The Ultimate Matrix Collection'. The set, at least in Japan, will feature a total of seven discs: four Blu-rays and three DVDs. Each of the three Matrix films will come on its own Blu-ray, with the forth Blu-ray disc containing all nine of the Animatrix episodes in high definition.

The first of the DVDs will hold the "The Roots of The Matrix" and "The Burly Man Chronicles" features, while the second DVD will hold "The Zion Archive". The third DVD will feature a digital copy of the 'The Matrix', though it is unclear if it will contain digital copies of all three films, or just the first one.

Details regarding the "Revisited" featurettes are still unclear, but it appears they will be included with the film on each of the Blu-ray discs.

And finally, the Japanese box will receive a scale model of the Nebuchadnezzar which can be seen below:

I hope they release part 1 separately. I have no interest to get parts 2 and 3 in Blu (Animatrix, maybe, but not 2 and 3). I have them on DVD and see no reason to upgrade).

I guess they feel we will bitch about how much it costs or something.  It sucks.  I won't bitch about the cost (much).

No need to re-encode the movies. They were pratically perfect on HD-DVD. Just a simple porting would be great. I won't buy them again tough, as I just got it on HD-DVD

I don't mind the cost so much if it comes with something cool...like the ship.  I double dipped AND payed extra for the Planet of the Apes head.  Without something cool, I don't know that I will replace my current DVDs with this set.
