| Posted: | | | | How do we profile episode numbers in the parent profile when there is more than one season in the set?
Unless I'm mistaken, this is yet another thing not covered in the rules.
We seem to normally put "1. Pilot", "2. Second", "3. Third" (etc) for each season.
Obviously, when there is more than one season, we have more than one "1. ___", "2. ___" and "3. ___"
I know most people's preference is to avoid using an episode divider such as "Season 1" to separate the seasons, so how should I put "Season 2, Episode 1" etc into the profile?
I have seen the following format being used ... "1.1 Pilot" "1.2 Second" "1.3 Third" ... but doesn't that mess up the CLT results?
Thanks in advance, Neil | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | That's what I would do (the 1.1, 2.1. etc.). | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! | | | Last edited: by huskersports |

Really? This is the first time I heard this. I only have seen "season dividers" so far (and I myself also use them). e.g. Season 1 1. Pilot 2. Second 3. Third Season 2 1. Episode 1 2. ... And never 1.1 Pilot 1.2 1.3 2.1 2.2 | | |

| Posted: | | | | I've received many no votes in the past when I've tried to correct Box Set contents by putting in Season dividers for each season. I've had to stay away from correcting many profiles because of this. |

| Posted: | | | | Dividers for seasons don't work: there's no link between a "Season 1" divider and any of the episode dividers below it. When you click an actor's name in one of those episodes, DVD Profiler will show to which episode divider that credit belongs, but it will not refer to any other (season) divider above it. That season divider is just completely ignored - there's no data associated with it - only with the episode dividers under them, but not with that season divider. As such, DVD Profiler will tell you that person appeared in episode #6, but it won't tell you in which season that was. All in all, using season dividers may look esthetically pleasing to some, but it just doesn't work. Using "1.1", "1.2" and so forth does allow the program to tell us exactly where a certain credit appears.
What we really need - and I already pointed this out *before* the beta that introduced the dividers was rolled out - is nested dividers. As long as we don't have that, I won't be using dividers that don't "link" with the credits that should fall under them. |

| Posted: | | | | Nested dividers - thank you for the reminder - I've been requesting these since dividers were introduced.
There are a few things that I believe would improve the database - I'm going to have to keep a list or I'll never remember them. |

Back in February we got a tiny glimpse of hope from Ken ... "The zombie has spent much time here in the last several months (apologize for the smell of decaying flesh, really nothing can be done about it). He was seen sniffing around Kulju's excellent pinned topic for hours on end and then continued to shuffle seemingly aimlessly through the rest of the threads. He frowned in heavy thought on this particular request, muttering something about impact to other systems but I know he hasn't forgotten about it. Really he's trying to be a good zombie, cutting back on those high cholesterol brains and working on his annoying tendency to talk about himself in the third person." from here. | | | Last edited: by GreyHulk |

| Posted: | | | | yup... I always use disc level profiles when available... or make them when I get the chance if they are not available.
That solves this problem most the times... though I do have a few sets where the end of one season and the beginning of the next season is on one disc. | | | Pete |
