Of course, but what did they use to accomplish it is the question.  Movie studios use server farms.

That being said, does anyone really think this is a selling point for the PS3?  I am debating on which system to buy.  Should I throw this into the equation or should I stick to my original plan of choosing which one to buy based on the games I want to play.

I find that a bit funny.  When the Xbox360 launched, everyone was talking about how powerful it was with 3 dual threaded processors and a 512MB graphics card.  Where were the games people wanted to play then?   It would seem that memories are extremely short.

I don't know who this 'everyone' is you are talking about but I never said one word about it.  For me, it has always been about the games.  I don't care how powerful one is over the other if the PS3 has the games I want to play I will buy it.  It it happens to be the Xbox360, well then I will buy that one.

Buying a game system for any other reason, at least for me, doesn't make any sense.

I just want to see if you are a hypocrite or not.

If it is only about the games, then that means the choice is already made for you.  The PS2 has the most games in the most genres (with the highest ratings) of any gaming console...hands down.  There are around 1000 titles or more for the PS2.  You said it doesn't matter how powerful a gaming console is, right?  So, let's see if "buying a game system for any other reason...doesn't make any sense" are just meaningless words.

You underlined the sentences but for some reason you didn't actually read them.    I said I would pick the one that had the games I want to play.

It doesn't matter which system has the most games.  It only matters which one has the games I want to play.  I have very specific tastes in games.  I look at the game first, the system second.

I liked Halo.  Is Halo included in that 1000+ game count?
I liked Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.  Is that included in the 1000+ game count?
I liked Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II.  Is that included in the 1000+ game count?

Granted, KOTOR: II wasn't out when I got my Xbox but the point still stands.  I got the Xbox because it had Halo and KOTR.  Had the PS2 had those games I might have gotten that instead.

Now looking at the current games that are out or coming out...

I am looking forward to Halo 3.  Is that going to be on the PS3?  How about Gears of War?  That is another game I want to play.  Is that going to be on the PS3?  How about Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon?  Another game I like...is that going to be on the PS3?  At the moment, those games are driving my decision on which system to buy.

I have said it before and I will say it again...learn to read AND comprehend what people are saying.

I could add to that Jade Empire.
Also don't forget Halo 2!
Oh, and Ninja Gaiden.
and Fable.
a little less known, but it was great, Beyond Good and Evil.
I happen to have to really enjoyed Sudeki.

These were all on Xbox.

And for Xbox360 against PS3?

There's Mass Effect.
Halo 3.
Fable 2.
Assassin's Creed (wasn't that supposed to be a PS3 exclusive?)
GTA IV (wasn't that at one point a PS3 exclusive?)

My choice is made, I bought a 360, and I don't regret my choice, not at all.

Though I'll admit I'm contemplating buying a Playstation, but it'll be a PS2, because, as A_S says:

Ninja Gaiden (Sigma) will be on the PS3.  But, for the few games you are naming there could be 200+ good to great games that could be named on the PS2.

Assassin's Creed should have better graphics and more features on the PS3, so I'm somewhat glad it will be on both systems (like Burnout 5).  How else are you going to know which has the better experience?

Exclusives are gained and lost on BOTH sides.  That's just the nature of the beast, but that doesn't mean that won't cater to the most powerful system by making that version better.

I bought a 360, but I realize that there wasn't a choice at the time I bought it.  That's why I don't regret my purchase.  Buyer's remorse usually comes when there was an option to pick the best, but you find out later that you didn't pick the best.  People have that choice now.

Yeah, I find the keyboard and mouse to give me more control in a game.  That's why I can't wait for Unreal Tournament 3 on the PS3 (keyboard and mouse support).

Just because you want it to be one or the other doesn't mean it has to be.  Again, you ignored what I wrote and threw in what you wanted to hear.  It isn't about the genre, it is about the specific game.

Did I say I liked that genre of game or that I liked that game?  I think I said I like that SPECIFIC game.

Yes, there are a lot of Star Wars titles for the PS2...this isn't one of them.  I said I liked THIS game, not Star Wars games in general.  Try to understand what I said and not what you want to hear.

Did I say I was interested in debate over which game was better?  I don't think I did.  What I said was I am looking forward to Halo 3.  I am looking forward to it because I liked Halo.  Again, this is about what I like not what other people like...or is that to hard a concept for you to grasp?

I haven't played the game I have only seen it played.  I like the look of this game.  As I said it is about specific games, not genres so I am not comparing it to any other FPS.

You have completely missed the point...though I am not surprised.  I am sure there are plenty of good games on the PS2.  The fact that they exist doesn't mean I want to play them.

It all comes down to personal taste.  I liked KOTOR...that doesn't automatically mean I like all Star Wars games.  I liked Madden Football...that doesn't mean I like all sports games.  I liked Medal of Honor...that doesn't mean I like all war games.

Are you starting to understand yet?  Not everyone cares about game genres.  Some of us care about specific games and buy the system that has those games.  I don't know how else to explain it.  If you don't get it by now it is because you don't want to.

Now...
Let's just take a look at you progression, shall we?  First, it was about the games.  Then, it was about specific games.  Finally, now, it is about specific games that only seem to be under MS/Xbox label.  Well, that sounds like someone that's open minded about games/gaming to me.

Why didn't you just say I am not just looking for great games and/or great graphics...I am only looking for Xbox games?  That way people would know that it is bias that drives you and not the need for great games (like you originally said).

At least it's clear for all to see now.  I will do my best not to reply to your posts in this or the other thread unless it contains misinformation for either side (Xbox or PS / Blu-ray or HD DVD).

Yes, let's just look at my progression.  My very first post said...and I will quote it for you because you still can't seem to read and understand English...

I don't care how powerful one is over the other if the PS3 has the games I want to play I will buy it.  It it happens to be the Xbox360, well then I will buy that one.

See what it says?  Games I WANT TO PLAY.  It has always been about the games I WANT TO PLAY.  Don't blame me because you can't read simple English.  I never said I was open minded about games/gaming.  I only care about the games I like.

Show me where I said it was the need for great games?  You can't because I never said that.  I said it was about the games I WANT TO PLAY.  My son had a PS2.  My brother-in-law had an Xbox.  I was able to sample games on both systems.  While I liked several of the cross platform games, the ones I liked most happened to be Xbox exclusive.

It's funny.  If you argue against people that are spreading misinformation against either format SOME people try to call you a fanboy.  A fanboy doesn't care about truth (like the people who made the PS3 song, etc.).  Fanboys won't fight for just the truth for both sides.  The ONLY reason most of my defense is for PS3 right now is because it needs it.  There are too many people that are trying to spread things that are not true about the PS3.

A few years ago, I was doing almost the very same thing for the original Xbox, because it was the superior console (of course there were no where near as many lies/misinformation being spread about the Xbox).  No one had to defend the Xbox360, partly because there was no other console to go up against it.

I will tell you that I have lost some respect for MS, because of these cheap tactics.  Their current campaign against the PS3 and Blu-ray is based on the premise that people are sheep.  They started by basically taking over AVS and slipping lies about the competition in with truth about their product.  Then, paying off people in the online press with $2000 laptops to spin as much positive news into negatives if possible.  That is dirty business.  A lie told a million times becomes the truth, so I must speak up at every opportunity to help stop a lie from becoming the truth.  Even though I have lost respect for MS's tactics, I would still buy the next gaming console they produce (if it's the superior console at the time).

So if that fit the defintion of a fanboy, then so be it.

Right and SONY never ever tries smear campaign tactics when it comes to its competitors???

Even in your argument about not being a fanboy, you completely attack Microsoft and the XBOX 360, with your subtle little barbs about superior console, blah blah blah.  You sound like a cultist with your whole "perpetrating the truth while fighting the injustice of the MS and XBOX against poor innocent SONY" rhetoric!!!  Hell the sad part is that I believe you are naive enough to believe the propaganda that you spew here!!!

The funny thing is how off topic this thread has become. The thread should be called PS3 vs Xbox 360. I actually enjoy reading this topic. It's amusing because you cannot say or prove that one is better than the other because they are different on many levels. At best you can compare/contrast their weaknesses. It’s like comparing Mac to the PC.  They are so different that why bother.  To even confuse this even more compare Linux/Unix , Mac, and the PC. The only definitive answer will be is that everyone has “their” reasons why one is better.

So to be more on topic do people agree with the re- release of the 360 to include an HDMI option? My answer to this is yes I think it is good that they now offer it this way. Am I pissed that they didn’t offer it when I bought mine? Yes, but that is life. The same goes for double dip in any products i.e. DVDs.  But should they not re-release it because people may get mad? No. That would be stupid and ignorant.  Catch 22. Damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

Everyone (well not everyone, but you get my point) likes to rip on Microsoft, but is it fair this time(release of the Xbox & 360)? I think Sony has filled the role of the evil giant in this scenario. Before the release of the Xbox, Sony had no real competition. Sony opted to go 32 bit with the PS and not 64 bit like the N64. They did; however, used cdrom instead of the cartridge like N64. N64 was a better system because of the 64 bit graphics, but limited on the amount of space the cartridge could hold. But I had both. Look at how much better of a console the Xbox was over the ps2.  The inclusion of a HDD and a NIC to name a few. Sony tried to release a HDD and a NIC, but not too many bought them. To be fair, the Xbox wasn’t perfect.  Sony ruled the gaming market before the Xbox. Now look at it. The 360 is far from a perfect system, but it is quite nice. So is the PS3, as we’ve all had the liberty to read. I was going to buy a PS3 originally, but with all the push backs I was tired of waiting. After the release of the PS2, I decided not to buy a console until after it has been out for one year. Mostly because of the lack of games. So the 360 beat the PS3 to the 1 yr mark. The other reasons is that all my friends have a 360 and being able to play online with them will beat out a PS3 any day. Even if it has a 37 core processor and 50gb games, if none of my friends have a PS3 than there isn’t much of need for me to get one either.
The 360 is here to stay, but is the PS3? I am sure it will be.

That's hysterical.  You were arguing against my personal tastes.  How are my personal tastes misinformation?  Misinformation would be you trying to twist what I said, about my personal taste in games, to mean something that it didn't.  You would have earned some respect if you had simply admitted you had misunderstood and moved on.  Instead you continued to bury yourself.
