Thankyou, O Great Abitar of necessary and unnecessary comments. I will try to do better in the future to only post necessary comments.. like all 3587 of yours.

But you did not answer how a couple of screen caps prove anything?

That is such an inane question it really does not deserve an answer.

But just for you. It confirms that a credit for Ed Brown in One Episode of a TV Series is the same as an Edward Brown in another Episode. It is certainly superior to those supplying NO documentation of any kind and just making a link because they say it is so. That is very simple to follow even without the explanation.

How do screenshots tell you what the common name is?

They can not even prove that 2 people in the credits are the same person unless you can also prove that the screenshot is of that particular person. Screenshots are useless on their own.

If the question was so inane, why did you fail to answer it... I would hate to draw my own conclusions, as I know how much you hate that.

OK, I recently had a submission with a Dee Wallace-Stone common name so I thought I'd best do the math and see what the CLT had to say. Unfortunately it doesn't really help.
I haven't been able to confirm all credits, so there may be still some incorrect entries, but here's how the numbers seem to go:

Dee Wallace (13 titles/254 profiles)

10                                      17
bones                                  11
the plague                          11
hills have eyes                      28
cujo                                    29
ET                                      84
stepford wives                      21
greys anatomy                      2
halloween                            14
hart to hart                          8
howling                              22
voodoo moon                      2
starsky & hutch                    5

Dee Wallace Stone (18 titles/126 profiles)

critters                                17
frighteners                          57
month of sundays                  2
stranger on my land              2
ally mcbeal                          10
murder she wrote                10
boo                                    9
black circle boys                    1
eden formula                        2
subliminal seduction              1
JAG                                    1

popcorn                              4
swearing allegiance                1
runaway daughters                1
perfect husband                    2

Dee Wallace-Stone (24 titles/53 profiles)

abominable                          3
buried lies                            1
taxi                                      2
phoenix                                1

FART                                  3
skateboard kid 2                    2
skeletons                              4
secret admirer                      3
bone dry                              4
child bride                            2
dead end road                      1
felicity                                  2
temptress                            2
huck & king of hearts            1
invisible mom                        1
the lost                                1
pirates of the plain                1
twilight zone                        2
scar                                    4
sex and the teenage mind      5
she's no angel                      2
witness to the execution        1

So we have the same old problem, if we go by number of titles then common name is Dee Wallace-Stone, but if we go by number of profiles then common name is Dee Wallace.
So what to do?

I seem to have noticed that in recent films she is making (Such as the remake of Halloween) she is back to Dee Wallace.

If this is indicative of a trend that's how she'll be credited from now on.

I have a lot of her early films where she was simply Dee Wallace - and seeing as she seems to be going back to that it gets my vote.

To stop this silly back and forth of some actress' last and middle names I think we better stick to their maiden names as a common name. I know common refers to the most credited form, but here in The Netherlands and other countires married women will always remain registered under their birth name only.

Except that the Rules tell us to use the most credited form based on the CLT.

That would be "Dee Wallace-Stone" for now.

But only if you count titles, if you count profiles it's Dee Wallace.

Are we using the same CLT?

When I search on these two names I get:

Dee Wallace - 73 Titles 158 profiles
Dee Wallace-Stone - 106 titles  202 profiles

her then husband, christopher stone, died in '95 (co-star in the howling - hence the wallace stone). she remarried in '98.

most likely a recalculate of the wrongly credited titles?

The breakdown I listed is of all her titles in the database, with all the incorrect profiles listed under the correct name as best I could.
The results I list are as far as I can tell, the results the CLT should be showing.
