Except that the Rules tell us to use the most credited form based on the CLT.

That would be "Dee Wallace-Stone" for now.

But only if you count titles, if you count profiles it's Dee Wallace.

Are we using the same CLT?

When I search on these two names I get:

Dee Wallace - 73 Titles 158 profiles
Dee Wallace-Stone - 106 titles  202 profiles

The breakdown I listed is of all her titles in the database, with all the incorrect profiles listed under the correct name as best I could.
The results I list are as far as I can tell, the results the CLT should be showing.

Wouldn't titles be what we should go by?

That is indicative of the number of films that the person is credited in a certain way.

The number of profiles is simply how many different versions (localities, editions, etc.) of that same film have been profiled in DVDP.

If she were in 10 film that have only been released in Region 1 and credited as Dee Wallace-Stone, would that be overridden because she was in a single film that was released in 21 different localities and credited as Dee Wallace?

That doesn't seem right to me.

It may not seem right to you, but other users have put forward reasonable reasons why we should count profiles in this thread. Without confirmation either way, or an irrefutable reason why one way wouldn't work, we have an impasse.

Ken said "most credited form".  Appearing in a profile in DVDP is not a "credit".  People are "credited" in films not in profiles.  Like I said,  having "Wolf Man" in 25 localities with Lon Chaney listed as 'Lon Chaney Jr' is still only one credit for 'Lon Chaney Jr'.

You are confusing "most often appearances in the IVS database" with "most credited form".

Thanks - I've been trying to explain this for months now...

Sorry, but the information held in the profiles is "credit" information. So it's perfectly reasonable to count each credit separately if that's what you think Ken meant. All we have to go on is "most credited form", that could refer to titles or profiles.

Do you really question that the intent of the system is to make sure that the common name is the form of the person's name that reflects the way they they have most often been credited in their films?

DVDP contains "credited" data, but it is not the actual credits.  Those appear only in the films themselves.  Looking at just the titles gives you an accurate view of how a person is actually credited in the real films they've appeared in.  Looking at profiles distorts that view...sometimes dramatically.

Agree with Hal (and therefore Tim).
