| | Posted: | | | | Curious to know if Invelos has the ability to somehow show us, (the builders of this site), the amount of ownership to one Title (upc/EAN) in data base.
i.e After a 24 hr window I see that there are 39 votes for the Spielberg movie 1941, currently in data base. That to me is a pretty impressive voting number as it probably represent about .0085% of our 500,000 plus member ship base. Those 39 votes are actual 'log in' to site in this 24 hr window and hence the 'vast' voting.
Now I have a contribution right now for John Wayne's Chisum (2007 ed). and after 24 hours no votes. Obviously not as many (owner)titles of this 1970 western title is in the data base. Which made me think of this Question:
Can we somehow view the exact number of people ( in numbers) that own a particular title on a search. it would also make a great tool to see Just what is the most owned title in the data base. I seem to think it is either BadeRunner or The Matrix seems to get the most votes. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Kinda like a big electronic phone directory, we are all in the directory and if needed the directory could tell how many live in a certain city or street or phone number that starts with 555 ... | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. If you think users will gladly allow an invasive search of their personal database on their home PCs you better think again  . When you upload your collection to Invelos and when new contributions come in, it can instantly find you. ( when you are logged in) and let you know that 'Your' title is up for contribution voting . Plus when you do a search for a title in Profiler. you have the option of seeing who the last person was who contributed that title in question and see what changes he submitted for voting.. That would be the Profiler I would be talking about. Now mind you if you fail to upload your titles or one title in quesition obviously the data base wouldn't count that one. The system would compare the titles in your own database to the titles in other's, and if a lot of people have a particular combination of titles that you don't, then it would recommend the title you don't own.
Basically I'm talking about what Amazon does on their product pages when they show other titles people who viewed your current title also viewed.

It should only gather the statistic of people how have their online collection visible and not marked as "private" And then just give an output like "This title is owned by 321 users, on order by 21 users and on the wishlist of 12 users."And since everybody can control what is visible in the online collection (e.g. in "Show In Public Listing" someone can exclude wishlist or adult titles from being displayed) it should be quite easy to manage. |
